Texture for days. 😍 I picked up my ⛪️ Firm Foundation quilt from the quilter @jackiesmachinequilting last week and I am in loooove with the gorgeous quilting that she did on it! I believe this panto is called “Playful Roses” (but don’t quote me on that) and it’s her own design. This means I am one step closer to having a pattern ready for y’all! Thanks for your patience as I work on this pattern in the midst of a lot of other fast-approaching deadlines and general life “stuff,” which all seem to be converging on the month of June. (It’s all good stuff, at least!) Happy Saturday, friends! The start to our long-awaited and much-anticipated French General Swoon 16 quilt-along is just around the corner, so I’m sharing the fabric requirements on my blog today. We are following the @thimbleblossoms Swoon 16 pattern, but instead of using a 3rd print in each block for the outer star points, we’re using one of three solids in the Jardin de Fleurs collection (red, soft blue, or taupe). My blog post lists exactly which prints we’re using for the blocks, sashing, and binding. I’ve also had some questions about which fabrics I’ve paired for each block, so I have that info for you too! This weekend I spent some time finishing up my #FirmFoundationQuilt blocks, which feature the panels from Songbook, @fancythatdesignhouse ‘s debut collection for @modafabrics. I love how this quilt is coming together, y’all! And I am so close to having it finished—I just lack the sashings, but I need more starch first. I can’t wait to show y’all the full reveal of this quilt top! ⭐️🍁❤️ But I have to wait until Friday, so here’s one last sneak peek before my official turn on the project tour with @rileyblakedesigns. Ok, I have to tell y’all the story of my quest to name this quilt pattern. At first, I called it Harvest Stars, but a little research turned up more than one existing pattern with that name. So then I thought about Gathering Stars...also taken. How about Falling Stars? (I really really liked that one.)...taken. Autumn Stars...you guessed it, taken. I was about at the point of calling it “The Pattern That Must Not Be Named,” but then I tried Bountiful Stars and that didn’t turn up any results, so Bountiful Stars it is! 😊 If there’s an existing pattern called Bountiful Stars, I don’t want to know! 😂 (Just kidding. Please tell me if there is!) Dispatches from the couch: Y’ALL. I got my second Moderna shot yesterday and overnight I was soooo sick. I mean, like, SO sick, sicker than I have been in years. It was rough. And I’m still not feeling well today so I am parked on the couch to rest. So since I can’t do any sewing today, I thought I’d share a pic of a new project I’m working on—the one our sweet chocolate lab decided to photobomb the other day. 😂 I’m really excited to be working with these beautiful Bountiful Autumn fabrics by @buttermilkbasin for @rileyblakedesigns! I’m trying to think...I don’t recall using much black fabric in any of my other quilts, but these rich, deep charcoal and black prints will play a prominent role in the finished design and I can’t wait to see how it turns out! I’ll share more progress pics along the way, and the full reveal (and hopefully pattern drop) will happen May 14.
